The hymns of Paul Gerhardt are not only poetic masterpieces but treasures of Lutheran theology. This setting of Gracia Grindal’s translation of his famous hymn, “Befiehl Du Deine Wege,” was commissioned for the 20th “All God’s People Sing” Festival Reformation Service, Luther Seminary. Norwegian-American poet, translator, and theologian Gracia Grindal is Professor emerita of Rhetoric at Luther Seminary. It was premiered by the Augsburg College Choir under the direction of Prof. emeritus Peter Hendrickson (1954-1922). A German version is available upon request with Gerhardt’s original text.
